EAGB MEMBERS STORM 2018 CEANA CONVENTION IN TORONTO CANADA

At the just ended 2018 Council of Ewe Associations in North America (CEANA) Convention in Toronto, Canada, the Ewe Association of Greater Boston was well represented from August 30 to September 2

With only 4 years of existence since the Ewe Association of Greater Boston was inaugurated, this year is the fourth official attendance of the Association since joining CEANA.  The number of the Association’s attendees were unprecedented with 34 members – 25 adults, and 9 children. EAGB has become one of the most admired Associations within the Ewe communities in North America and Canada due to the hard work of the Executives and the able representation on the Council of Representatives (COR) by the President and the Treasurer.  The EAGB’s financial contributions to CEANA as a group and as individual members are beginning to be noticed by all CEANA member Associations.

The Convention is an annual event that gathers members of the Ewe Community in the diaspora to raise fund for educational and health development projects in the Eweland of Benin, Ghana and Togo.

On the 25th anniversary of CEANA, the Ghana Ambassador to Canada, Honorable Ayikoe Otoo was happy that members have not forgotten their people back home and setting a good example of continued contributions towards development activities.  He encouraged the CEANA to partner with various governments in Benin, Ghana and Togo for the development of their countries and especially, the less privileged.

In a related development, the President, Patrick Mancha Sossou, on behalf of EAGB donated $1,000.00 to the CEANA Star Fund towards future development projects in Eweland.  Individual members of EAGB also pledged to the CEANA Star Fund during Fundraising activities at the Convention.  Congratulations to all.

In an interview with Mary-Ann Sossou, she commended members for attending and being active participants throughout the Convention.  She was very optimistic that EAGB members had great advantages on picking up positive feedback in order to have a successful hosting of the 2025 CEANA Convention in Boston.

Some members have already booked the hotel accommodation for next CEANA conference which will be held in Charlotte, NC from August 29 to September 2, 2019.
