Benedicta
Worla Kumahia - Vice President, Ewe
Association of Greater Boston
Benedicta (Bene) Worla Kumahiahas felt the
warmth of The Ewe Association of Greater
Boston (EAGB) since she was invited to meet
and consider forming an association for
people of Ewe heritage in and around Boston.
Since its inception in 2014, she has been an
integral part in establishing and growing
the EAGB to ensure its success.
Family, culture, and community have always
been important to Bene. Trained as a nurse,
Benee migrated from Ghana to Boston in 1983 to
join her husband, Francis. After gaining her
reciprocities, she immediately continued her
nursing work at a number of Boston-area
hospitals and medical facilities.
Working full time, and raising her raising
three then young boys (Senam, Dela and Elike)
with her husband, she entered Northeastern
University, where she earned both her
Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Her intent
was to study public health nursing, but she
soon switched her focus to Nurse Practitioner
courses.
She currently works as a Nurse
Practitioner at Community Medical Alliance
(CMA) of Neighborhood Health Plan, an
affiliate of Partners HealthCare. Everyday,
she helps those in the toughest situations in
the community.
This same attitude and desire to help others
has extended to Bene’s work with The Ewe
Association of Greater Boston. In her
current role as Vice President of the EAGB
she, along with fellow Executives, strives to
help promote cultural awareness, expand
inclusiveness, and create a community and
long lasting legacy for the Ewe Association
of Greater Boston.
